My Fuji X-T1is already back with the light leak fix!

After less than 10 days, my Fuji X-T1 is already back from Fujifilm’s factories, where the light leak issue got fixed. I tried to take a 30s exposure with the lens cap on the lens while directing a flashlight into the side panel with the cover open, and true enough all I got was a completely black frame with no sign at all of light leak.

The body was also completely cleaned before being sent back directly to my home, and all that for free. The following letter of apology and explanation on what was done to the camera was included for the package (Japanese only since I live in Japan…). Well, to be honest as i cannot read Japanese, this is just my guess 🙂

Hi, I found this via Fujirumors. Did you notice any difference with the D-Pad. It seems that newer camera bodys are better.
It would be great if you would share your experiance with us.

    Thanks

    1. Hi, I did notice “somewhat” a difference as if the bottom and left buttons of the D-pad were less recessed, but no dramatic change overall, the other 2 buttons are still the same… Probably just do to the fact they had to open the body and move things inside, not a purposeful change I assume…

    Hi there,

I’m a potential buyer of the Fujifilm XT-1. But seeing Youtube videos about the the light leak through the AF Assist light has gotten me worried to the point that I won’t buy the camera till I know that the problem is resolved. So I was wondering if your new XT-1 leak light though the AF-Assist light?

I contacted Fufjilm US regarding this and they have not gotten back to me yet 😦

    Appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Harsha,
      Thanks for the comment.
I have been mainly shooting portraits since the last week or so, and no long exposure, so nothing that would have been impacted by a residual light leak. Will let you know when I have the occasion.

Appreciate it. I will wait for it. Thanks. Some great snaps with the 10-24mm. That is the lens I’m hoping to get along with the 23mm.
